# Hi-Bred
> Hi-Bred is a risograph self-publishing project and online shop operated by Ian Mackay, a Maryland-based artist. Hi-Bred produces limited-edition, hand-printed risograph art prints, screen prints, art comics, zines, and graphic novels. All work is original, signed, and numbered. Ian Mackay's illustration clients include Figma, The New Yorker, The New York Times, Eater, Zeit Magazin, WeWork, and Gehl Studio.
## What is Risograph Printing?
Risograph printing is a stencil-based duplicating process that produces vivid, slightly textured prints with characteristic ink overlap and registration variation. Each print is unique due to the analog nature of the process. Hi-Bred prints its own work in-house on a risograph machine, typically using 2–3 ink colors on high-quality ivory vellum paper.
## Shop
The Hi-Bred shop sells original risograph art prints, screen prints, art comics, zines, and apparel. All prints are limited-edition, signed, and numbered by Ian Mackay.
